// How can you target college students?

If you haven’t noticed, Texas Tech’s fall semester is now in full swing. With more than 28,000 students back in the hub city, what can you do to effectively advertise to them?

Three Great Advertising Options to Target College Students:

Movie theatre admission continues to rise, but college students consistently make their way to see late night flicks. Weekend theatre lines are now backing up with students along with the typical rush of local movie goers. With several minutes of content showing before the previews, there is no better way to catch the crowd’s undivided attention.

Texas Tech athletics are booming like never before. Sporting events are a great way to target a specific audience especially a larger percentage of the student body. With Tech adding 6,000 seats to Jones AT&T Stadium this only supports the fact. After completion, the expansion will increase the stadium capacity to 61,000 screaming fans. Along with the Jones, United Spirit Arena will house Tech basketball, volleyball, and several musical guests this fall. With Tech expanding and enrollment on the rise now is an excellent time to speak to the masses.

Lastly, let’s not forget the importance of offering student discounts and coupons. More than ever students are finding themselves in financial slumps. These markdowns and deals can draw in potential student customers that may have not considered your business in the beginning. Also, keep in mind the thousands of freshmen and transfer students who may not be aware of the many places to spend their hard-earned money.

Don’t just stop here. There are many other strategies to target specific audiences like college students. What do you think?

When Texas Tech and most universities start their fall semesters it sends a pulse beat of positive adrenaline through the community. Just driving by the campus invigorates me. If it doesn't, call your cardiologist - your heart's not beating.
If you're a cynic, check out Lubbock's history when it was smaller than Plainview. Back in the 1920's Plainview was selling itself as the "Athens of West Texas." Lubbock won the bid for Texas Technological College in 1923 and is now the "Capital of West Texas."
